#ATaleofDiceandFire: It’s Finally Here!

A Tale of Dice and Fire Full Size

Today is the launch of #ATaleofDiceandFire. I’m teaming up with Mab is Mab for a week of stories where anything can happen on the roll of a dice!

What’s ATODAF all about then?

Every day next week, Monday to Friday, we’ll roll three story dice.

Magic and Fairy-tale dice

The challenge is to write a 500 word story that contains all three elements or symbols shown on the story dice. In a nutshell, that’s it!

Can I join in?

Yes! Here’s a quick run down of how it will work:

2 Blogs

ATODAF is run by DorristheLoris and MabisMab, so the main action will happen through their blogs. Others are welcomed and encouraged to join in and may post their stories on their own blogs, reblog Dorris and Mab’s posts and tweet about the event. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #ATaleofDiceandFire !

If you want to participate in ATODAF with us, please let Dorris or Mab know, and we’ll post a link to your blog on the main event page.

3 Dice

Each day, three story dice will be rolled. All three of the elements rolled must be included in the story. Each element rolled will be displayed on participating blogs.

5 Days

The event will run for one week – 5 days, Monday 22nd to Friday 26th July 2013.

An army of possibilities

As long as you include the three daily elements, you can write about whatever you like and your tales can be structured as you wish – there’s no set length or style. We’d politely request that you include a trigger warning if your story is likely to upset anyone who comes upon it unawares though.

An army of possibilities

What if I want to take part but don’t have a blog?

That’s ok! ReadWave is a website where you can publish your short stories for free! If that doesn’t suit you, then please leave a comment below or on the form at the bottom of this page and we’ll get in touch to sort something out – we want as many people as possible to join in, so not having a blog shouldn’t be an unsolvable barrier.

What if I can’t do a story every day?

We think it’s more fun to do every day, but if you don’t have time, can’t get online or any other reason each day that ATODAF is running, you can still join in for part of the week.

Can I use your logo to promote the event on my blog/twitter/facebook?

Yes – downloadable files are available in:
