On the needles: 2 year old’s mittens

Most of the patterns I’ve seen on Ravelry seem to involve knitting mittens and gloves in the round, on dpns. Now don’t get me wrong, I can manage fine with dpns – I’ve done many a hat on them, and even a pair of socks. But mittens confuse me every time. No matter how hard I try, I cannot work out how the thumb part works.

So I was really pleased to find this pattern by Nell Armstrong at Freevintageknitting.com

2 needle mittens knitting pattern

These are a great quick knit, and if your toddler is anything like L, and prone to losing gloves at the drop of a hat (thus rendering all those snazzy coats with matching button-on gloves entirely useless!), you can easily knit an i-cord or similar between the two mittens so they can go through the armholes of your toddler’s coat. Voila! One pair of un-loseable mittens!
